VX360 Companion App requires Location and Bluetooth permissions for:
- Detecting and configuring Wi-Fi for automatic footage upload.
- Sending and receiving data from your VX360 device.
- Collecting GPS data to maximize accuracy and rewards.
To ensure proper communication between the companion app and surrounding devices, make sure to set up the permissions on your iPhone or Android, as listed below.
How to Grant Permissions:
- Grant Location Access by selecting "Allow While Using the App" on the app pop-up
Then go to your phone settings to enable Location permission:
- On iPhone, go to:
Settings -> Apps -> VX360 -> Location -> set to 'Always' and enable “Precise Location”
Followed by enabling: - Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Bluetooth -> VX360 - Toggle ON
- Settings -> Cellular -> VX360 - ON (to allow mobile data)
- Settings -> VX360 -> Background App Refresh - ON (auto-refresh/reconnect)
Important for the WiFi: - Settings -> Wi-Fi-> (i) icon next to your dedicated 2.4 GHz network -> Private Wi-Fi Address - OFF
(This will force the device to use its real, hardware MAC address when connecting to that network) - Settings -> Wi-Fi -> [tap (i) next to your 2.4 GHz SSID] -> Limit IP Address Tracking -> OFF
(This ensures the iPhone uses the router-assigned IP directly, which is more reliable for smart device pairing on 2.4 GHz networks) - Go to Settings → Wi-Fi → (your network) → (i) → Compatibility Mode ON
(Helps your iPhone connect better to routers or 2.4 GHz networks) - After you make these changes, make sure to:
- Rescan networks on your phone first, then connect to the dedicated 2.4 network
- Go to the companion app Setup WiFI page, tap Refresh to rescan there as well, and connect to
the same dedicated 2.4 network
- On Android go to:
- Settings → Location → App permissions → VX360 → set to ‘Allow all the time’ with “Precise Location” enabled
- Settings → App Management → VX360 → Permissions → Remove permissions and free up space → OFF
- Settings → Apps → VX360 → Battery → Allow background activity / Unrestricted
- Settings → Apps → VX360 → Mobile data & Wi-Fi → Background data → ON
Important for the WiFi: - Settings → Apps → VX360 → Permissions, enable Nearby devices and Location
(allows the VX360 app on your phone to communicate properly with the VX360 device via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi during setup and use) - Settings → Network & Internet → Wi-Fi → [Your dedicated 2.4 Network] → Advanced → MAC Address Type; Change from “Randomized MAC” to “Phone MAC”.
(This ensures the device uses a consistent MAC address, which is essential for things like MAC filtering, device pairing, or router allowlists) - After you make these changes, make sure to:
- Rescan networks on your phone first, then connect to the dedicated 2.4 network
- Go to the companion app Setup WiFI page, tap Refresh to rescan there as well, and connect to the same dedicated 2.4 network
